Its applications are said to be infinite. ■Properties of Titanium■ Titanium can express various colors through anodization, and by simply replacing conventional metals with titanium, stronger or lighter products can be obtained. ■What constitutes good titanium castings■ Titanium has a strong affinity for oxygen and has the property of extracting large amounts of oxygen from all substances. As a result, an oxide film called the α-case is formed from the surface of the casting to the interior, approximately 0.5mm thick. This oxide film is very hard yet brittle, and a round rod of Φ1mm can break just by bending it by hand. If it does not break even when bent over 90 degrees, it can be judged as a good titanium casting with a thin oxide film.
